Polytunnels, Pickles & Plants donation
£80.00
The Hub is a not-for-profit project. While we have been very fortunate to receive grants towards infrastructure and specific courses, we do not currently hold any reserves and so our volunteer weeks need enough donations to come in to meet the cost of expenses on the week.
Where does the money go?
For this week (3 full days, 2 half days) we estimate:
Around £600-700 in food costs (depending on how much we can harvest from the farm)
£95 insurance
£100 utilities and supplies (electric, water, gas, loo roll, washing up liquid etc)
£30 wood (just for the sauna since it's summer!)
£200 organisation
Beyond these unavoidable base costs, we try to do as much as possible to keep costs down - there is no contribution to upkeep of the facilities as all you lovely people contribute with your time and skills and beautiful energy! The farm supplies as much produce as possible, and an incredible amount of time is volunteered in organising the whole thing, cleaning the barn and bunkhouse before arrival and after everyone leaves, ordering supplies and so on.
That comes to around £15 per person per day, but there are many people who cannot afford that. To try and keep our events open and accessible to everyone, we ask that those who can pay a little more do so, spreading the cost of supporting this community across us all and making them more sustainable for PEPC to continue holding.
This is why we ask that, wherever possible, please try to contribute £20 per day to cover our costs and keep the whole thing going. If there is any excess, this will be used to bring in instructors to show us special skills such as scything or tool use.
Paying in advance will help to buy food in preparation (there really is no money in the account right now!) but you are also very welcome to bring cash or pay with card at the farm.
If you are unable to contribute the amounts suggested, please do not let this form a barrier to your participation. The community we hope to create is formed of many components and we welcome whatever you bring.
