Reserve the juicing room

Fivepenny Farm

Reserve the juicing room in the barn for apple pressing and juice making (recommended to book for 2 days at a time). PEPC members who have used the equipment before are subject to a day rate of £50 (use discount code PEPC at checkout). Non-members £70. If you have not used the equipment before please arrange to be accompanied by a PEPC member by contacting Mary or Ele BEFORE booking.

Equipment available to use:

  • Apple scratter

  • Hand-driven press

  • Associated shovels and pressing sheets

  • Juice tanks and pipes

  • Pasteurizing vats

Bring with you:

  • Apples! A full pressing is around 1 tonne which is 50-60 feed-sack-fulls (just to give you a rough idea)

  • Bottles - there may be some available to buy but please arrange this beforehand.

  • Propane gas – for pasteurising a full pressing you’ll need in the region of at least 8kg of gas.

  • Strong crates/boxes (lots) for taking the full bottles away afterwards.

  • Bags for taking away the pulp

  • A bucket, maybe, for taking away any broken glass.

  • And I recommend waterproof trousers.

  • Lunch etc.

(there should be a kettle and a gas stove in the end room down the corridor)

The juicing room needs to be left as clean or cleaner than when you arrived - if a significant amount of mess is left over, an extra cleaning charge may be added. A cleaning checklist will be pinned up in the room.
